Harland Lewis

Harland Ross (Pete) Lewis, 83 of Oakland passed away on Monday, January 23rd at Garrett Memorial Hospital.

Loving & devoted husband of 64 years to Louise(Werdebaugh) Lewis, loving father of Ella Rimel & husband Chuck, Rose Housley & husband Bill, Baltimore, Gloria Burns, Oakland, Pete Lewis, and wife Kenia of Miami, FL, and Alice Baasland & husband Allan, Lavale. Loving grandfather to 17 Grandchildren, and 15 Great grandchildren. Also survived by, Brothers Lawrence Lewis, Friendsville & Howard Lewis, Oakland and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Harland was born in Sines (Swallow Falls) on July 3, 1928.He was preceded in death by parents Richard A. and Icy Grace (Spiker) Lewis, and his brothers Arthur Lewis, and Claude Lewis; sisters Daisy Lewis, Ivy Zang, and Edna Werdebaugh.

Harland served in the Army working as a Med Tech at Walter Reed Medical Center. He worked at Anchor Fence for over 20 years and moved back to Oakland where he retired from Community Action, where he worked as a weatherization supervisor. He was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren . He instilled in his family his deep faith and lived each day for the Lord . He will sadly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland on Thursday, January 26th. Viewing will be from 10-12, with funeral services at 12, with Pastor Bobby Holcomb officiating.

Interment will be at Garrett Co. Memorial Gardens.

There will be a dinner at the Bethel United Methodist Church immediately following.
