Hancell Teets

Hancell Ashton Teets, 95, of Aurora, WV and Winston-Salem, NC, died peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the family farm in WV.

He was born January 20, 1919 in Aurora, WV the only child of Gladys Rinehart and William Matthew Teets. Hancell was a lifelong dairy farmer and co-owner of Green Valley Ceramics. He was active in the Monongahela Soil Conservation District, having served on the Board of Directors for 22 years as a member and Chairman for many years. He was a faithful supporter of all the activities of the WV Resource Conservation and Development Council. Hancell was involved in a variety of community activities, including serving as an EMT and an ambulance driver for Union Ambulance Squad. He was a long time member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren. For many years, he was an active participant in the Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC.
He was cared for and survived by his wife of 72 years, Mildred Lorene Donham Teets. He is also survived by two daughters, Judy Charlotte Kepple, and her husband Ronald A. Kepple, of Shepherdstown, WV, and Sharon Sue Teets, and her husband Michael Scott Teets, of Jefferson City, TN. He is survived by grandson Mark Ashton Kepple, and his wife Lisa, of Wheeling, WV, and granddaughter Jill Christina Kepple Lutz, and her husband, Andy, of Richmond, VA, and four great-grandchildren, Mark Ashton Kepple, Jr., and Juliana Marie Kepple of Wheeling, WV, and Claire Lockett Lutz and Charlotte Anne Lutz of Richmond, VA. He also leaves behind cherished friends, neighbors, and extended family members.
Friends will be received on Tuesday March 4 from 4-8 PM at the Aurora Memorial Building. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 5 at 11:00 AM at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren with Rev. Gary Meeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.
