Granville Halterman

Granville Park "Rocky" Halterman, Jr., 58, of Oakland died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at his home. Born on June 25, 1957 in Morgantown, WV, he was a son of Granville Park, Sr. and Barbara A. (Westfall) Halterman of Oakland. Rocky served his country, first in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on a C5 and then in the Army Reserves. He was a lead mechanic for the Garrett County Roads Department having retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Deer Park VFW Post 10077, Sons of the American Legion Post # 70, Elks Lodge #2481 and the Deer Park Sportsman's Club. Rocky loved to play music, including bluegrass and southern rock and loved to go hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the A.L. Riders and past member of the Second Brigade. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Albert) Halterman; children, Michele Halterman, Teri Halterman, Melita Halterman Friend and husband Jaime, Rebecca Halterman, and Cassandra Halterman Layne and husband Josh; stepchildren, Joshua Latta and wife Anne, Cody Latta, Shane Latta, Jessica Albert, Nicole Albert Goldsby and husband John, and Joseph Albert; numerous grandchildren; a sister, Sue Halterman; and a brother, Douglas Halterman. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Rhonda Latta Halterman. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 16th at 1 PM in the Deer Park VFW. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland assisted the family with arrangements.
