Grace Jane (Gnegy) White, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at her daughter Nancy's home in GA.

Grace was born December 10, 1920, in Eglon, WV. to the late Jesse E. and Bertha Gnegy.

Grace was a graduate of Aurora High School class of 1938. She was a member of Gortner Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, volunteering and reading. She was a member of Sunnyside Homemakers Club for over 60 years, several of which she served as president, served as president of Garrett County Homemakers and on the state board for two years, taught vacation bible school for 26 years at Gortner Church and several years at Maple Springs Church of the Brethren, member of the Gortner Ladies Aide, a deacon in the Church of the Brethren, a representative to the Church of the Brethren annual conference for numerous years, county fair judge from 1956-2005. She enjoyed doing for others in her community.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold E. White, sisters, Florence (Roscoe) Wotring and Ruby (Gay) Rembold, brother, Earl (Beatrice) Gnegy and son-in-law Douglas Spaulding.

She is survived by two daughter's: Nancy (Gene) Nolte of Clayton, GA, Margaret Spaulding, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and one son, Harold (Bud) J. (Mary) White of Oakland, MD. Grandchildren, which were the light of her life, Jeff (Nina) Nolte of Palm City, FL, Greg (Loreen) Nolte of Stuart, FL, Dr Robert (Jennifer) Oliverio, of Charleston, SC, Margaret (Peter) Erwig, of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Christopher (Kim) Oliverio of Georgetown, DE, Lt. Angelo (Renee) Oliverio of San Antonio, TX, Michael (Kathy) Oliverio, of San Antonio, TX, Jason (Adilka) White of Woodstock, GA. Great-grandchildren, which delighted in her and she in them: Branden (Shannon) Nolte, Justin Nolte, Kirstyn Rahla, Andrew Oliverio, D.J. Cannon, Brittany Nolte, Natalie Cannon, Christian Oliverio, Robin Oliverio, Alexander Oliverio, Bailey Erwig, Gracie Oliverio, Gabby Oliverio, Hannah Erwig, Samuel Oliver, Ethan Oliverio, Caroline Oliverio and Elias White, two brothers, Paul Gnegy and Jesse (Helen) Gnegy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7-9 pm. at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A, 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD. Funeral services will be held at Gortner Church on Saturday July 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Sauder officiating. The interment will follow in Eglon Cemetery.
