Gertrude Herman

Gertrude S. Herman, 87, of Deer Park, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born on August 21, 1935, in Arjay, KY, she was the daughter of the late Beve and Phemia (Begum) Smith.

She was a member of the Deer Park Church of God of Prophecy. She spent many years working as a caregiver. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed thrift shopping and watching TV.

She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Reckart and husband Rod of Myrtle Beach SC, and Becky Ahern and husband George of Deer Park; a son, Charles "Buddy" Herman and wife Connie of Mt. Lake Park; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles "Buzz" Herman, and a daughter, Linda Dailey. She was the last surviving member in her immediate family.

Friends will be received on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 6 to 8 PM at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11 AM  in the Deer Park Church of God of Prophecy, 25 Back St., Deer Park, MD, with Pastor Jimmy D. Bentley officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
