Georgia Durst

Georgia Leah Durst, 88, of Oakland, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on August 19, 1935 in Tunnelton, WV, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Myers) Casseday.

Mrs. Durst worked in the cafeteria at Dennett Road School and, in 1996, retired as the food service manager for Southern High School. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her flowers as well as feeding and watching the birds in her yard. Most especially, she enjoyed her grandchildren and would light up as they entered her home.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Teter and husband Bob of Oakland, and Linda Taylor and husband Art of Deer Park; a son, Bill Brockman of FL; grandchildren, Bryan Teter and wife Danielle, Samantha Cummings, Jennifer Glover, and Jonathan Cummings; great grandchildren, Eli and Anna Teter, Jacob, Olivia and Madison Glover, and Delainey and Jaysiel Cummings; dear family friend, Wayne Beckman; and her beloved dog, Trixie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd L. Durst, in 1996; an infant daughter, Norma Jean Durst; her sister, Bernice Melchek; and an infant brother, Samuel Casseday.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St. Oakland, on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 2 PM with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
