George Allen Simmons, 70, of Philippi, WV died March 16, 2015 at his home.
He was born February 21, 1945 in Red Creek, WV a son of the late Herbert Jessie and Gaynal Thelma Bonner Simmons. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Simmons in 2004. Also preceding him in death were 1 son, Shane Allen Simmons, 1 brother, Herbert Fay Simmons and 1 infant sister, Carol. Survivors include 2 sons, Gary Allen Simmons and Wayne Keith Simmons, 1 daughter, Marlain Marie Simmons, 13 brothers and sisters and 9 grandchildren.
Mr. Simmons worked as a hydraulic mechanic in the heavy equipment industry. He enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Riverview Chapel of Porterwood, WV.
Friends will be received on Wednesday March 18, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Riverview Chapel Church in Porterwood, WV. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 19, at 11:00 AM at the Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church, Red Creek, WV with the Rev. James Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in the Flanagan Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
