Garry Davis, Sr

Garry Allen Davis, Sr., 72, of Barton, died on Friday, November 4, 2016. Born on October 20, 1944 in Swanton, he was the son of the late Robert Scott and Maud Doll (Brown) Davis. Garry attended Southern High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Alaska where he was a warhead detonator. Upon returning home, Garry worked in construction, helping build several large buildings and projects in the surrounding area such as the Wisp, Martin's in Keyser, the General Motors Plant in Martinsburg, WV and the floodwall in Kitzmiller. He was a member of Walnut Bottom Assembly of God. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Garry was an industrious man who was always willing to lend a hand to his family and neighbors. His family remembers him as a wonderful father and husband. Garry is survived by his bride of 47 years, Darlene Rae Davis; three children, Roy Davis and companion Teresa Douglass of Westernport, Teresa Carder and companion Ryan Butler of Piedmont and Garry Davis, Jr. and companion Tammy Mills and Zoey of Barton; grandchildren, Jason, Carrie and Cristen Carder and Cameron Davis; siblings, Elwood, Robert, William, and Roy Davis, Nancy Braham, Geraldine Harding, Patsy Myers, Helen Marley, Joyce Livingood, Susie Steyer, Mildred Rice and James Davis; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Norman and Margaret Gutherie and Jack and Ginger Bean. In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by a grandson, Roy "Petie" Davis, Jr.; and three siblings, Mary Calcamp and Donald and Junior Davis. Friends and family will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 10-11:00 AM at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home with Pastor George H. Tichinel officiating. Interment will be in Turner Cemetery, Walnut Bottom Rd, Swanton.
