Frederick Sharpless

Frederick Garland Sharpless, 91, of Kitzmiller passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 surrounded by his family at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on May 27, 1922 in Mt. Zion, he was the son of the late Berkley O. and Lillie E. (Paugh) Sharpless. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the McCoole VFW and the Piedmont Legion. He was Methodist by faith and attended the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Swanton for 91 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather by a family that adored him. He is survived by one son, Randall Sharpless and wife Glenda, one daughter, Sandra "Cookie" Noble and husband Brian; grandchildren, Mark Wolf and Cristy, Brandon Wolf and wife Lana, Ryan Wolf and wife Ginger, Randall Sharpless, Jr. and wife Chrissy, Harland Sharpless and wife Jennifer, Alysha Sines and husband Jonathan, Christopher Noble and Jackie Noble; great grandchildren, Tyler Evans, Heather Wolf, Ashley and Nicholas Wolf, Mason Wolf, Ryleigh Sines, Lauren Sharpless, Kendall Sharpless, Emily Sharpless and Levi Sharpless; one great great granddaughter, Ava Paugh; and a brother, Paul Sharpless and wife Bertie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine M. (Evans) Sharpless; a daughter, Janice C. Wolf; two brothers, Frank and Lyle Sharpless; and one sister, Hazel McCrobie. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Sunday, October 27th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Swanton on Monday, October 28th from 10 to 11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Gary Rankin officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
