Frederick Lohr

Frederick Eugene Lohr, 80, of Swanton died on Friday, December 9, 2016, at his home. Born on April 23, 1936 at home in Swanton, he was the son of the late Frederick Alfred and Elizabeth Persilla (George) Lohr. He had worked in construction and enjoyed farming and growing sweet corn to sell at the Swanton Store. He also enjoyed hunting with family and friends where he would build a fire and cook lunch which became known as Freddie's Kitchen. He is survived by a sister, Mary Shreve and husband Eugene; three step-children, Patricia A. (Beckman) Helbig, Sandra K. (Beckman) DeWitt and Richard W. Beckman, Jr.; grandchildren, Rebecca Helbig and husband Kevin Nolan, Valerie Helbig, Frederick Helbig, Jr. and wife Melody, Eric DeWitt and wife Melody, Aaron DeWitt and wife Samantha, Tanya Layton and husband Rick, Tara DeWitt, Richard W. Beckman, III and wife Teresa, and Heather Frantz and husband Donnie; fifteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Edna (Shrout) Beckman Lohr, in 2002; an infant sister, Dorothy Lohr; sister, M. Lucille Shannon; and five brothers, Daniel E., Luther D., Roger W., Lewis C., and James H. Lohr. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, December 13th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, December 14th from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Dennis Caton officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Lohr Family Cemetery, Swanton. Donations in memory of Mr. Lohr may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
