Fred Downey

Fred Vernon Downey, 86 of Westernport, MD, passed away February 20, 2012 at Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born April 27, 1925 in Kitzmiller, MD, he was the son of the late Clyde & Alice J. (Bray) Downey.
Fred retired from Westvaco with forty-four years of service. He was a gifted man with many talents and there was nothing he enjoyed more than going for drives and the beauty of nature.
Surviving are wife of 58 years, Charlotte (Angle) Downey; sons, Fred M. Downey and wife Dawn, Keyser, WV and Brett S. Downey and wife Casey, Cumberland, MD; daughter, Cheryl M. Hill, Barton, MD; sisters, Reba Yukon, Baltimore, MD and Joy Rae Brown, Cumberland, MD; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden, with the Rev. Gary Morris officiating.
