Evelyn Kahl

Evelyn Margaret Kahl, 101, of  Oakland, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born on May 8, 1916 in Vindex, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Leonard H. and Lula A. (Stewart) Stark.  Evelyn was a graduate of Oakland High School.  She worked as a hairdresser in Oakland and had her salon on the first floor of her home on the corner of 1st and Water Streets.  She attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church.  Evelyn enjoyed traveling especially her trips to Italy and Korea.  Her more quiet hobbies included crocheting and outdoor gardening.  She is survived by her son, Michael Kahl and wife Beverly of Beltsville, MD; nieces, Brigetta Barnes of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa Ratliff of Oakland, Rebecca Graziano of AZ, Donna Callis of Oakland; nephews, John R. Maroney and Tom Stark of Oakland, Richard and Michael Adams of Laurel, MD.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph F. Kahl and six siblings.  Private interment was in the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. is handling the arrangements.
