Evelyn Hatley

Evelyn Geanine Hatley, 83, of Gormania, WV went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Born on May 1, 1932 in Freeport, WV, she was a daughter of the late Omar D. and Mary Hannah (Bennett) Shaffer. She was a member of the Fresh Fire Church of God and had attended the Loch Lynn Church of God. Evelyn will be remembered as a "the best Mom in the world" and as a hard worker; she had worked for the Salvation Army, served in restaurants, Three Lane Auto and as a farmer. In addition to spending time with her family, she loved to sew. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra K. McGinnis and husband Tom of Gormania; a son, Don Eugene Hatley and wife Brenda of Keistersville, PA; five grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Shaffer and Carl Shaffer; sisters, Carolynn Wiles, Betty Atkinson and Deborah Strawser; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hatley, Jr., in 1999; a granddaughter, Billie Dawn Hatley; sisters, Pansy Mae Shaffer and Iris Simmons; and brothers, Everett Shaffer and William Shaffer. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, May 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Loch Lynn Church of God on Wednesday, May 6th at 11 AM with Pastor Ivan Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Bayard Cemetery.
