Evelyn Clark

Evelyn Pauline Clark, 99 of Oakland, MD, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Oakland & Nursing & Rehab.

Born February 4, 1912 in Sang Run, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John T. & Rebecca Jane (Thomas) DeWitt. She was also preceded in death by husbands-Cecil Wilt and Alvy E. Clark, sisters-Mary Shaffer, Ethel Dewitt, Sylvia DeWitt and Della Welch; brothers-Roy and Willard DeWitt; nieces-Geraldine (Shaffer) O'Haver and Jean (Shaffer) Osgood and nephews-James Kenneth Shaffer, Dale "Bud" Shaffer, Kenneth "Fuzz" Shaffer, James White and James L. "Jim" McBee, Jr. Evelyn was the last survivor of her immediate family.

At the time of Evelyn's death, she was the oldest member of the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church. For many years, Evelyn received certificates for perfect attendance at Sunday School. Evelyn remained faithful in her church attendance until she developed some health issues in 2008.

Evelyn enjoyed sharing photographs and historical information of the Kendall Lumber Company, Stanley Coal Company and Kray Coal Company during their early years of operation in Crellin. Evelyn moved to Crellin with her family when she was three years old. She truly enjoyed sharing stories of her life in Crellin with her family and friends. Evelyn's family was very important to her and nothing delighted her more than visits from family members.

Surviving are: nieces-Cosette Harman and Patricia McBee-Oakland, MD; nephews-Allan DeWitt-Terra Alta, WV and Clifford Welch, Oakland, MD and several great-nieces and

great-nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers of Tender Loving Home Care and Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center for the wonderful care they provided for our dear Aunt Evelyn.

A memorial service will be held August 26, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Crellin United Brethen In Christ Church, 65 Otterbein St., Crellin, MD, with the Pastors Edsel C. Calhoun, Jr. and Michael A. Mudge officiating.

Interment will be in the Hoyes Cemetery.
