Eugene Wilt

Eugene Joseph Wilt, 87, of Oakland and Swanton died on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Goodwill Retirement Community in Grantsville. Born on May 5, 1935, in Swanton, he was the son of the late Noah H. and Laura Marie (Sweitzer) Wilt-Madigan and step father, Charles "Bud" Madigan.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had retired from Westvaco having worked in the wood yard. 

He is survived by two step daughters, Connie Bowman Wilson and husband Kelly of Grafton, WV, and Charlotte Bowman Warnick and husband Mike of Bittinger; and extended family and close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Wilt, in 2006, and his second wife, Norma (Bowman) Wilt, in 2021.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 4 to 6 PM and on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating with military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guard of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 and the Deer Park VFW Post #10077.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deer Park United Methodist Church, 81 Church St., Oakland, MD 21550.
