Esther Rhodes

Esther Marie Rhodes, 86, of Sykesville, MD, and formerly of Oakland, MD, passed away on November 21, 2024, at Bethania Home Care in Westminster, MD. Born February 13, 1938 in Crellin, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth (Jamison) Wilt.

Esther had humble beginnings in life, but would not settle for anything but success. She and her husband, Earl, raised four children while owning and operating their business "Earl's Luber-Finer." She enjoyed traveling, bingo, casinos, shopping and being with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and their families. Christmas was her favorite time of year.

She is survived by her four children: Dale & Rena (Pellizzari), Sykesville, MD; Catherine & Ricardo Varela, Palm Coast, FL; Betty Lou & Larry Beachy, Westminster, MD; and James & Patricia (Neal) of Fallston, MD. Eight grandchildren: Jennifer & Jason Beachy; Christopher & Tracy (Mertz); David Varela & Jessica (Schmidt); Michael Varela; Alex Varela & Natalie (Chappell); Laura Beachy; Weston Beachy & Maggie (Chaney); and Neal Rhodes; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Earl Wilt & Thelma (Weimer); and sisters-in-law Janet (Foster) Wilt & Esther (Cosner) Wilt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl Jackson Rhodes; a great-granddaughter, Riley Beachy; and six siblings, Hazel (Wilt) & Albert Upole; Phillip ("Bud") Wilt; Alfred; Joyce (Wilt) & John Foster; Anthony ("Dick") Wilt & Laura (Spiker); and Jerry ("Pete")Wilt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church, 15 Old Crellin Road, Oakland, MD 21550, c/o Pastor Marty Wilt.

Friends will be received Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the C&S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 26, at 2 p.m. at the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church, 941 Underwood Rd., Oakland, with her nephew, Pastor Marty Wilt, officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
