Erva Rebecca Comp, 84, of Joppa, MD, passed away on March 16, 2013 at Hart Heritage Estates Assisted Living in Forest Hill, MD. Born February 23, 1928 in Deer Park, MD, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Francis Sybil Marley Paugh and wife of the late Roy Daniel Comp Jr. After retirement from the Army, her husband worked for the State Department which had them traveling and living in Liberia, Africa for five years and also Amman, Jordan. She was a homemaker for five years before going back to school. She earned her nursing degree from Harford Community College and attained the position of Registered Nurse. A resident of Harford County since 1969, she worked as a nurse at Fallston General Hospital for its entire existence and later, in 2008, retired from Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. She attended Post Chapel at Aberdeen Proving Ground and was a member of the Red Hat Society, as well as, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed playing bridge at the Harford Senior Center.

Mrs. Comp is survived by her son, Dan Comp and his wife, Laurie, of Port Deposit; daughter, Barbara Drumgoole and her husband, Joe, of Mechanicsville; brothers, Mason Paugh of Deer Park and Howard Paugh of Baltimore; sisters, Dixie Tennow of Oxnard, CA and Fran "Pud" Everhart of Joppa; grandchildren, Joey Drumgoole, Jenny Drumgoole, Chrissy Ciabattoni and Danny Comp; and great-grandchildren, Ava Ciabattoni, CJ Drumgoole and Andrew Ciabattoni. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by nine siblings.

Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Deer Park United Methodist Church with Reverend Barbara K. Rexroad officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Deer Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mrs. Comp's name to Deer Park United Methodist Church, 81 Church St., Deer Park, MD 21550. www.burdockfredlockfh.com
