Ernest Swiger

Ernest Blaine Swiger, 76, of Oakland, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at his residence. Born on December 16, 1943, in Gortner, he was the son of the late Otis B. and Pauline L. (Herold) Swiger. Ernest graduated from Oakland High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Ernest was employed by Coco-Cola as a route driver for 18 years and he also worked for Oakview Motors as a car salesman for 18 years. Ernest was a member of the Proctor Kildow American Legion Post #71. He enjoyed spending time with his family outdoors hunting, fishing and camping.

Ernest is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Ann (Friend) Swiger; two sons, Rodney C. Swiger and friend Stella, Ronald B. Swiger and friend Brenda, all of Oakland; and a brother, William Swiger of Front Royal, VA. In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by two sisters, Freda Pennington and Flora Jean DeWitt.

In accordance with his wishes, Ernest will be cremated and no services are planned. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is honored to be assisting the Swiger family at this time.
