Ernest Schrock

Ernest N. Schrock, 83, of Oakland died on Monday, February 3, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on May 24, 1930 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Noah D. and Cora (Burkholder) Schrock. He was the owner of Schrock Farm Equipment and a member of the Gortner Amish Church. He was known to enjoy the great outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha (Shetler) Schrock; children, Miriam Ann Schrock, Naomi Marie married to Paul L. Yoder, Calvin Edward Schrock married to Irene (Bender), Barbara Ellen married to Samuel Yoder, Cora Mae married to John D. Yoder, and Andrew Wayne Schrock married to Ruth (Miller), all of Oakland; grandchildren, Heidi, Geneva, Paula and Kristoph Yoder, Jonathan and Gloria (Kinsinger) Yoder, Mark and Angela (Frantz) Yoder, Joel and Ella Mae (Swartzentruber) Schrock, Daniel and Carol (Peachey) Schrock, Rebecca, Ernie and Nathan Schrock, Samuel, Martha, Catherine, Mary, Amanda, Jacob, Rachel and Rebekah Yoder, Timothy and Amy (Yoder) Swartzentruber, Matthew and Bethany (Yoder) Beachy, Michael, Emily, Abigail and Ryan Yoder, Jennifer, Anthony, Joshua and Aaron Schrock; great grandchildren, Alivia, Erik and Kaitlyn Swartzentruber, Eli and Wyatt Yoder, Kaleb, Kristen and Annika Schrock; and a brother, Simon N. Schrock of Catlett, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Yoder; four brothers, Orval, Norman, Olen and Menno; and a sister, Lydia. Friends will be received at the Gortner Amish Church on Tuesday, February 4th from 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, February 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the church on Thursday, February 6th at 10 AM with Bishop Alvin Beachy officiating. Interment will follow in the Gortner Amish Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
