Eric Tichnell

Eric Anthony Tichnell, 21, Gorman, MD, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Garrett Memorial Hospital due to injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Born March 7, 1990 in Oakland, MD, he was the son of Gary and Kate (Wotring) Tichnell. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Ernest "Jake" Wotring and his paternal grandfather Charles "Chase" Tichnell.

Eric was employed at Herrington Manor State Park and a member of Gorman Volunteer Fire Department. He completed certified Firefighter I and II, Hazmat Operations & Aerial Operations, through M.F.R.I. through the University of Maryland. Eric loved hunting, bowling and hanging out with all his friends.

Also, surviving are: brother-Gregory Scott Tichnell, at home, paternal grandmother, Janet Mae Tichnell, Oakland, MD; the Love of his Life-Karie Ann Sanders, Oakland; aunt and uncles-Harland & Linda Tichnell, Friendsville, MD and Larry and Janet Tichnell, Oakland; several cousins, and his brotherhood and family with the Gorman Fire Department.

Family and friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A, 21 N. 2nd St, Oakland, MD; from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2011. And one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2011 at White United Methodist Church, Oakland, with Rev. Steve Sauder and Rev. Barbara Rexroad officiating.

Interment will be in the White Church Cemetery.

Graveside honors will be accorded by the Gorman Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Eric Tichnell Memorial Fund, c/o First United Bank & Trust, 19 S. Second St, Oakland, MD.
