Emma Jean (Sowers) Beckman, 84, of Mountain Lake Park passed away at Dennett Road Manor on April 15, 2021. She was born March 17, 1937 in Thomas, WV, a daughter to the late Benjamin Harrison and Mary Hazel (Miller) Sowers.
Mrs. Beckman was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her amazing cooking skills. She enjoyed getting out to shop and going out to eat along with her trips to Florida. Later in life, Emma could be found visiting her neighbors and watching game shows with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Newton Beckman on December 22, 2006; two brothers, Harry Sowers and Donald Sowers; one sister, Lucy Cable.
She is survived by five sons, Robert Beckman and wife Lois, Pinellas Park, FL, Harry Beckman and wife Pam, Mt. Storm, WV, Dennis Beckman and wife Charlotte, Oakland, MD, Paul Beckman and wife Cathy, Oakland, MD, and Steve Beckman, Oakland, MD; two daughters, Emma Knotts and husband David, Oakland, MD and Patty Ohler, Coolidge, AZ; fourteen grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alma Whitehair.
Friends will be received Monday, April 19, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland. A funeral service will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, April 20, at the funeral home with Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Beckman Family Cemetery. The C & S Fredlock Funeral is honored to be serving the Beckman Family. Due to covid restrictions, face mask and social distancing are required.
