Emerson Fike

Emerson Harold Fike, 96, of Oakland died on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on March 15, 1919 in Red House, he was the son of the late Elden R. and Mae F. (Strawser) Fike. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and completed one tour in the Philippines. Emerson later retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration with over 40 years of service and had attended the Oak Park Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Helen M. (Sanders) Fike; three daughters, Pamela Bentley, Linda Bentley and husband Lonnie and Mary Selders and husband Brian; a son, Emerson "Buck" Fike, Jr. and wife Linda; seven grandchildren, Mike Bentley, Chris Bentley and wife Holly, Paula Thomas and husband Tim, Erin Frederick and husband Brenden, Jessica Geoghan and husband Jeff, Chad Fike and wife Crystal and Ryan Fike; nine great grandchildren, Kody, Alana, Heather, Nathan and Tyler Bentley, Josephine, Calliope and Isaac Geoghan and Jaxson Frederick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Elden W. Fike; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Rebecca Fike; a grandson, Philip Bentley; son in law, Helton Bentley; and a cousin, John Moore. Friends will be received on Saturday, January 2nd at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland from 11 AM to 12 Noon, after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Sam Moore officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Eglon Community Cemetery, Eglon, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Emerson's name to the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 3152, Deer Park, MD 21550, Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, PO Box 378 Oakland, MD 21550 or a charity of one's choice.
