Elsie Peachey

Elsie Peachey, 68, of Oakland, went to be with Jesus on March 16, 2025, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on May 16, 1956, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel William and Lottie "Lichty" Peachey.

She was baptized in her youth on the confession of her faith and was a member of the Mountain View Church. She loved the Lord and served Him joyfully and faithfully throughout her entire life. She enjoyed her time spent working in the Sugar and Spice Bakery and also worked in the upholstery industry for a number of years.

She is survived by her four sisters: Rosa Yoder, widow of David Yoder of Rock Springs, WI; Alma Kauffman, widow of Noah Kauffman of Chatham, VA; Sadie and husband Homer of Oakland; and Katie Peachey of Oakland, with whom she resided. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers in law.

The family wishes to express their thankfulness to the staff at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, to Hospice of Garrett County, and to their church and community for their prayers, support and sympathy.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Gortner Amish Church, 3271 Mason School Rd., Oakland. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10 AM in the church with Rev. Kevin Coblentz officiating. Interment will follow in the Gortner Amish Church Cemetery.
