Eloise Lambert

April 21, 1922 — March 22, 2017

One of the loveliest of mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, and friends, Eloise Hockman Lambert, passed into a new life on March 22, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Houston, Texas. She was born April 21, 1922, in Davis, West Virginia, and grew up in Davis and Parsons. Eloise was the second oldest of nine children. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Merlan Meredith Lambert and by her parents, Albert Smith Hockman and Myrtle Mary Morgart. She is also predeceased by a loving brother, Pete, and three loving sisters-Carol, Helen, and Margaret.
She was the mother of two daughters, Gretchen Ann Lambert (Bill) Tuttle and Lisa Jane Lambert (Arthur) Springer. Eloise had six grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Tuttle (Sheldon) James, William Lambert (Monica) Tuttle, Jennifer Meredith Springer (Bill) Reus, Jonathan Gordon Springer, Christopher Albert Springer, and Karen Laura Springer (Sean) Hughes.
Her great grandchildren include: Morgan Harrison Burns, Harper Caswell Burns, Meredith Elise Tuttle, Madeleine Grace Tuttle, William Augustus Tuttle, Samuel William Reus, and David Arthur Reus.
Also surviving are three brothers Jack (Linda) Hockman, Dan Hockman and Steve (Lois) Hockman, one sister Susie (Ernie) Gabler, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Eloise graduated from Parsons High School in 1940. She received her Business degree in Fairmont, WV, and was a secretary at Household Finance. She also worked for White Gables in Parsons and Dr. Whiteside. At this same time, she was a heck of a dancer to Glenn Miller music.
On October 9, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Meredith Lambert, in Providence, RI. They lived in Morgantown, WV, Baton Rouge, LA, Westfield, NJ, and Conroe, TX. Our mother was a precious little lady, beautiful and sassy, who also possessed a spine of steel. She was a wonderful example to follow.
She loved reading her Bible, walking, working on family genealogy, attending and working in her church, volunteering at Conroe Regional Medical Center, and laughing with her friends. Her favorite activity, however, was being a mother and housewife.
Her last several years were spent at Village of Meyerland in Houston, TX, where she had many friends. Eloise had a wonderful long life, a generous heart, and will be deeply missed. We respected her strength of character in her declining years. She will forever be in our hearts.
Monday, April 27, 2017, visitation will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Parsons from 10:00- 12:00 with the service immediately following. Rev. Dent will be officiating.
Memorials may be directed to: John Hagee Ministries, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, or West Conroe Baptist Church.
