Elmer William "Bill" Crone, Jr., 90, of Oakland passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at home. Born on May 1, 1923 in Katy, WV, he was the son of the late Elmer William and Elizabeth Jane (Sine) Crone. He was a 1940 graduate of Fairview High School, 1949 graduate of Fairmont State and 1952 graduate of West Virginia University, a veteran of the United State Army having served in World War II. Bill was a retired high school teacher at Southern Garrett, former member of the Church of the Brethren and Moutaintop Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He loved fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen V. (Tatterson) Crone; grandchildren, Richard Lee Seeders and wife Suzette, William Allen Seeders and wife Cheryl, Glenda Davis and husband Teddy and Rhea Fair Crone; ten great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Patricia Crone; and will be missed by niece, Linda Hess and husband Bill of Ohio and nephews, Lynn Heltzel and wife Cindy of PA and Charles Cutney and wife Sandra of CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Donna Leigh Crone Seeders, Robert William Crone, Karen Sue Crone and James Edward Crone. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, August 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 11AM with John Rodeheaver and Pastor Scott Shafer officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
