Ellwood Sanders

Ellwood Rodney Sanders, 86 of Sanders Lane, near Hutton, MD, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at his residence.

Born February 19, 1925 in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Nelson Cyrus & Valley Sidonia (Paulie) Sanders. He was also preceded in death by brothers-Paul Richard Sanders, Lawrence Nelson Sanders & Forrest Leo Sanders; sisters-Gladys Louise Sanders Whetsel and Dortha Mae Sanders Nemith and grandchild-Andrew David Sanders.

Along with brothers Lawrence and Forrest, he operated Sanders Brothers Dairy for many years. Ellwood was a charter member of Oak Park Church of the Brethren, served on Church Board and Deacon Committee; served on the Garrett County Fair Board for 19 years then Honary Member of Board; Southern States Board of Directors and Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Surviving are-wife-Martha Elizabeth (Buffenmyer) Sanders; children-John Nelson Sanders & wife, Cindy, Oakland, MD, Michael Rodney Sanders & wife, Carol, Warrenton, VA, Kimberly Ann Sanders & friend Greg, Oakland, MD and Beth Elaine Sanders Bender and husband Dick, Seneca, SC; sisters-Bethyl Ernestine Sanders Martin and Barbara Isobel Sanders, both of Telico Village, TN; grandchildren-Scott Sanders, Heather King, Melissa Sanders, Dalton Bender and Dillon Bender; great grandchildren: Gavin King and Riley King; step-grandchildren-Jennifer Brenneman and Nikki Evans; step-great grandchildren-Leah Brenneman and Luke Brenneman.

Family and friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St, Oakland, MD, Saturday, April 30, 3011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren at 2 p.m. with Carl Fike officiating.

Internment will be Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
