Elizabeth J. “Betty” Kurilla, 81, of Oakland, MD passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at her home. Born on September 6, 1937, in Uniontown, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Karlovich. Betty operated the Sears Catalog Store in Oakland for many years. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and a former member of the Oakland Jr. Women’s Civic Club as well as a 15-year VIVA volunteer at Garrett Regional Medical Center. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking, playing bingo and visiting casinos. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. She is survived by her two children, Kim and Jeff; a granddaughter, Lacee; two grandsons, Bryson and Logan; sisters, Madeline Kufta and Barbie Kish; a sister in law, Barbara Peluso; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Kurilla and two sisters, Pauline Smith and JoAnn Drahos. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, PA., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from 2 to 6 PM. A funeral mass will be held in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 208 S 4th St., Oakland on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at 10 AM with Father C. Doug Kenney officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. www.csfredlockfh.com
