Elaine Roth

Elaine Roth, 80, of Eglon, WV passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2019. Born on December 12, 1938, in Douglas, WV, she was the daughter of the late Homer Leslie and Thelma Charlotte (Smith) Gnegy. Following high school graduation, Elaine was a secretary for the USDA, then later in her life spent her time as a housewife and loving mother. She was faithful, loving, and devoted throughout her life, as she spent her life sharing her God given talents, was a caregiver for many years, and everything she did was with a kind heart and gentle touch. She was an organist at St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 60 years, a devoted member of the Red House Lady's Circle, an active member of the Adult Fellowship, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, youth group leader, 4-H leader, and an organizer for SHS Class of 1956 reunions. As a devoted Christian woman, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and her great-granddaughter. Elaine is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte Cussins and husband Don, and Arlene Lantz and husband Willie; a son, Danny Roth and friend Tim Pace; grandchildren, Erik Cussins and wife Melissa, their daughter Kacey, and Nathan Cussins, Aaron Lantz, Levi Lantz and fiancée Mariah Moon; brother-in-law, Earl Roth; sisters-in-law, Alice Roth and Mary Jane Gnegy; and special neices and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Roth on July 5, 2004; brothers, Wayne, Glenn, and Dale Gnegy; sister, Norma Gnegy; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Gnegy. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 North Second Street, Oakland on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 4-7PM and from 1-2PM on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red House, at which time a funeral service will be held. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Elaine’s family wishes that memorial donations be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, or the Red House Cemetery Association, 3301 Garrett Hwy, Oakland, MD 21550.
