Edwin T. Brown, 93, of Oakland died on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his son's home. Born on December 24, 1918 in Wallman, he was the son of the late Frederick Fulton and Mary (Rumors) Brown. He was a foreman for DelSignore Lumber Company and had also served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Elk Garden Assembly of God, the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 in Oakland and the Deer Park VFW Post # 10077. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ginsenging, reading, and feeding birds and squirrels in his backyard. Mr. Brown was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by a son, Dale Brown and wife Shirley of Oakland; a daughter, Sylvia Butler of McHenry; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet (Secrist) Brown in 2001; a son, Larry Brown; three brothers; and eight sisters. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, October 5th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 10 AM in the Lakeside Assembly of God Church, 18012 Garrett Highway, Oakland with Pastor Dennis Caton officiating. Interment will follow in Bayard Cemetery, Bayard, WV with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
