Edward Steyer

Edward E. Steyer, 87, of Oakland died on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home with his family by his side. Born on October 20, 1927 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Albert and Artie (Hanlin) Steyer. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War and had been a heavy equipment operator for Buffalo Coal Co. prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Loch Lynn Church of God. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed farming and working with horses. He is survived by two sons, Larry E. Steyer and wife Karen of Oakland and Steven R. Steyer of Addison, PA and former wife Barb Steyer of Mt. Lake Park; grandchildren, Judy A. Steyer, Katie M. Steyer, James E. Steyer and girlfriend Stephanie Henline, Chad E. Steyer and girlfriend Tina Dewitt and Cara L. Keller and husband Luke; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Garrett, Caitlyn Steyer, Nevin Steyer, Hannah Everett, Brianna Steyer, Logan Steyer, Dustin Keller, Jordan Clary, Samantha Keller, Connor Clary and Mason Keller; and a brother, Lee Steyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jennette (Moon) Steyer, in February of this year and a brother, Everett Steyer. Friends will be received at the Loch Lynn Church of God, Gorman Road, on Monday, December 8th from 9:30 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor John Skipper officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the White Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Loch Lynn Church of God, PO Box 2027, Mt. Lake Park, MD 21550. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is handling the arrangements.
