Edward Bartlett Hinebaugh, 97, died on March 31, 2012 at his residence in Catonsville, MD.
Born July 25, 1914 in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Arthur and Gracia (Bartlett) Hinebaugh. Mr. Hinebaugh graduated from Oakland High School in 1931 and later served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II where he met his wife-to-be, Hazel, a native of Hurstville, Australia. After returning from the war and marrying Hazel, he earned an accounting degree from Ben Franklin University in Washington, DC, and went on to become the comptroller of the McIntire Hardware chain in the Washington, D.C. area. Mr. Hinebaugh retired in 1981 and moved with his wife to Mount Dora, FL while still maintaining a summer residence at Deep Creek Lake and later, Highlands, NC. His wife died in 1990 and he later moved to the Baltimore area to be closer to his family. Mr. Hinebaugh gave back to his native Garrett County and its residents through philanthropic grants to the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation and Garrett Community College.
He is survived by his son, Ronald and daughter-in-law Rose of Columbia, MD as well as by granddaughters, Emily Hinebaugh of Glen Burnie, MD and Charlotte Shreiner of Millersville, PA.
A memorial service will be held at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, MD on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1 PM with the Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating.
Interment of cremains will follow in Oakland Cemetery. www.burdockfredlockfh.com
