Edward Charles Glotfelty, 78, of Culpeper, VA, formerly of Oakland, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home. Born on December 23, 1940 in Washington, D.C., he is the son of the late Joseph T. and Dorothy L. (Rausch) Glotfelty. Ed was a graduate of Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1961-1964. Ed was employed by Delta Airlines where he worked in customer service. Ed loved adventure. He enjoyed sailing and traveling. Ed and Gloria retired to Oakland from 2005-2018 during which time they faithfully attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church. In 2018, they moved to Virginia to be closer to family. Ed is survived by his wife of 18 years Gloria G. Glotfelty; children, Sherry Hoyt and husband Steve, Eve Oswald and husband Ozzie, John Edwards and wife Sharon, Crystal Furtado and husband Greg; grandchildren, Ashley Hoyt, Catarina Edwards, Shane Edwards, Alexandra Lopez Giacose , Andrew Clark, Jason Clark, Kory Clark, Cayley Furtado; great grandchildren, Dylan Clark, Zane Clark, Michael Clark; and a sister, Dorothy Granger and husband John; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 5-8 PM and again from 10-11 AM on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 318 E Oak St., Oakland. A funeral service will then be held at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Matthew Paugh officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 318 E Oak St., Oakland, MD 21550. Ed's family would like to thank the Veterans Administration, New Century Hospice, Rev. Dr. Matthew Paugh and all of their friends and family for the prayers, love and support shown during Ed's illness.
