Edgar Louis Powell, 87 of Deer Park, MD, passed away, Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home.
Born December 5, 1923 in Lonaconing, MD, he was the son of the late Edgar Andrews & Bessie Powell. He was also preceded in death by wife-Goldie Powell and step-daughter-Nancy Gordon.
Edgar was a veteran having serviced with the United States Air Force, World War II. He had worked at a warehouse and in the coal mines, was past post commander VFW Deer Park, member of American Legion and Elks Lodge.
Surviving are: granddaughter-Nancy Eichorn and husband Ike, Mt. Lake Park; step-children-Vernon Strawser, Henry Strawser, Roger Strawser & Oma Athey, all of Oakland, MD, and Rick Strawser, Ohio; half-sister-Lucille Croscoe, Oakland, MD and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd Street, Oakland, MD from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment will be in the Deer Park Cemetery. Military graveside services will be accorded.
