Dwight David Hinebaugh, 56 of Oakland, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore, MD after complications of liver transplant failure. Born January 19, 1955 in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late Harry Ward Hinebaugh, Jr. and Helen Lucille (Railey) Hinebaugh. He was also preceded in death by a treasured niece, Gwendolyn Helen "Dubie" Johnson. He was a graduate of Southern Garrett County Jr. Sr. High School class of 1973, excelling on the Golf Team and also attended Garrett Community College. David's chosen career was in electrical engineering and he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Capital Institute of Technology, Laurel, MD in 1984. He pursued additional studies at Hawaii Pacific University and Johns Hopkins University. He was employed by E-SYSTEMS/Raytheon Corporation for 20 years, retiring and returning to Oakland due to ill health in 2003. During his career, he worked throughout the world in over 11 countries and the United States. Among other projects, he worked in the U-2 program supporting one of our nation's most important intelligence systems, thereby strengthening our nation's defenses, safeguarding our freedom, and extending protection to our allies. Highly intelligent, resourceful, and independent, David led a full and rewarding life. He had many interests and pursuits. He delighted in cooking and preparing delectable meals many of which were ethnic cuisine. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, motorcycling, jet skiing, playing cards, and driving his corvette. He had many projects going on at all times, remodeling his home, beautifying his property, and raising chickens. His love of growing flowers, shrubs, trees, and vegetables had no limit. He attended St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in his youth, attending Sunday school classes and serving as an acolyte. He was a good friend and family member, had an unequaled sense of humor and will be greatly missed. He is survived by sister, Fannie H. Johnson and husband Von "Buzz", Oakland, MD and by brother, Dr. Harry W. Hinebaugh, III, "Buddy", and wife, Deborah, West Chester, PA and Oakland, MD and niece Anne Elise (Hinebaugh) Eunson, husband Dan and daughter, Grace, Thornton, PA. He is also survived by his beloved cat and companion of 13 years, Grisette, whom he dearly loved. Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland, Md. on Friday, November 11, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Manning Smith officiating. David's wish was that there be a gathering of his friends and family in order to "tell stories" and recollect their times and experiences with him. We extend an invitation to David's friends and family to attend a luncheon at the Cornish Manor 830 Memorial Dr. Oakland, MD following his interment in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
