Dorothy Simpson

Dorothy M. Simpson, 92, of Deer Park, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Garrett Regional Medical Center.  Born on August 27, 1926 in Deer Park, she was the daughter of the late Frederick L. and Rachael E. (Schmidt) Walter.  Dorothy retired from 35 years of service as manager of the Southern High School cafeteria.  She was a member of the VFW Post 10077 Auxiliary and Proctor-Kildow American Legion Post 71 Auxiliary.  Dorothy enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family and many friends.  Dorothy is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Simpson of Edgewood, MD and Earl L. Simpson and wife Cynthia of Deer Park; grandchildren, Kimberly Simpson Goessler and husband David, Jeffery Simpson and wife Jeanie and Douglas Simpson; great grandchildren, Tyler Simpson, Kyle and Courtney Goessler, Kadi Simpson and Garth Wolfe; a brother-in-law, Wade C. Shaffer.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dale L. Simpson; five siblings, Luther, Arthur and Herman Walter, Thelma C. Shaffer and Lula Walter.  Dorothy was the last surviving member of her family.  Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, October 16 from 3-7 PM.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 17 at 11 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.  A special thanks to the staff at Cherry Hill Assisted Living and the Garrett Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Dorothy.  Memorial contributions may be made to HART for Animals, Inc., PO Box 623, McHenry, MD 21541-0623.  www.csfredlockfh.com
