Dorothy J.(Kirksey) Moon, 85, of Oakland died on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at her home. Born on January 13, 1927 in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of the late William J., Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Crisp) Kirksey. She was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #2481 in Oakland. She is survived by her brother, William J. Kirksey, Jr. of Falcon, NC; a special friend, Sandy Tasker; special nephews, David and Doug Kirksey; and a number of additional nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Tedrow Moon, in 2001 and sisters, Bertha Griffin and Margaret Hill. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 11 AM in the chapel of Garrett County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Matthew Paugh officiating. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is handling the arrangements.
