Doris Baker

Doris L. Baker, 80, of Oakland died on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 20, 1933 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Mildred F. (Ridenour) Snodderly. She was employed by the Garrett County Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator for over twenty years. Doris was very strong in her faith and was known to always minister to others. She was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren and was active in their Bible study groups. She is survived by a son, Dennis Baker and wife Margaret of Tyler, TX; a daughter, Karen Gilpin and husband Larry of Swanton; grandsons, Larry Gilpin, Jr. and wife Traci, Cody Gilpin and wife Jessica, Derek Gilpin and Colin Thurmond; great grandchildren, Tyler Gilpin, Jacob Gilpin, Colby Clark and Madysen Gilpin; and a brother, Bill Snodderly of Funkstown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William "Bill" Baker, in 2008. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, November 4th from 5 to 8 PM and at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren on Tuesday, November 5th from 11 AM to 12 noon at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Carl Fike officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, 110 Church Lane, Mt. Lake Park, MD 21550.
