Donald Friend

Donald Earl Friend, 84, of Mt. Lake Park died Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born on October 16, 1927 in Rowelsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Emma S. (Moon) Friend.
Donald was a veteran of the Navy having served during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Swick) Friend; two sons - Donald Friend, Jr. and wife Lorie and Steve Friend and wife Debbie, all of Oakland; one daughter - Linda Nugent and husband Randy of Oakland; twelve grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Eloise Callis and a grandson, Joshua Friend.
Friends will be received on Sunday, October 30th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, MD.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11am on Monday, October 31st with the Rev. Mel Menker officiating.
Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
