Dick Schrock, 97, of Oakland, went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2025, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on December 27, 1927, in Aurora, he was the son of the late Page Cline and Ethel "Veda" (Evans) Schrock.
Dick attended Aurora High School and in April of 1946, he joined the United States Army and served in WWII. After retiring in Florida, he returned to Aurora 32 years ago. He enjoyed serving as Lay Minister with Lutheran Church's in WV and MD for several years. Often, you could find him providing services at two and even three church's on the same Sunday! He served on Board of Directors with Cortland Acres nursing facility. He continued his passion of serving with implementing the Grief Share Program for the Aurora area and then for Oakland. Dick also was a volunteer at Garrett Memorial Hospital for over 20 years up until 2019 pandemic. He served one term as Director of Volunteers and was once even nominated for Garrett County "Most Beautiful Person" award. Dick enjoyed going with his wife Alice to the Senior Center and sitting in his favorite rocking chair with his cup of coffee! He loved God and being with people - especially when there was food and music!
He is survived by his wife of over 18 years, Alice Wilt Schrock; his children, James R. Schrock of Aurora, Richard Allen Schrock and wife Karen of Pensacola, FL, Sheila Dedrickson of Atlanta, GA, Sandra Kay Stutteville and husband Tom of Shreveport, LA, and step daughter, Sherri Evans and husband Teddy, of Oakland; several grandchildren and step grandchildren; several great grandchildren and step grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Ferrell of Oakland.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances (Friend) Schrock; and siblings, Charles David Schrock and Page Cline Schrock, Jr.
His celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2 PM in the Oak Park Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, 110 Church Lane, Oakland, MD, 21550, or to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD, 21550.
