Dessie Darlene (Tasker) Otto, 78, of Swanton, Maryland, passed away on January 24, 2022 in Cumberland, MD. Although she had been courageously battling cancer, death was unexpected and due to a brief illness. Born July 22, 1943, the daughter of the late Jacob E. Tasker and Elva P. (Bray) Tasker.
Dessie was a graduate of Southern High School. Her passion was having family and friends over for dinner and caring for her precious birds, Buddy and Tia.
She is survived by one son, James W. "Jim" Otto and wife Betty; one daughter, Darla K. Culp and husband Vince; three grandchildren, Jimbo Otto, Jamie Otto, Kelly Garland and husband Jayson; one great-grandchild, Elliott Paige Garland; and one brother, Ronald "Dale" Tasker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James R. Otto, whom she married on October 9, 1961; and two brothers, Junior "Peach" Tasker and Paul J. Tasker.
Friends will be received, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Walnut Bottom Assembly of God Church, Swanton, MD, from 11 am to 1 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 pm with Pastor George H. Tichinel officiating. Interment will follow in the Turner Cemetery. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Otto family at this time.
