Delmus Evans

Delmus W. Evans, 72, of Oakland died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Born on January 26, 1944 in Eglon, WV, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Ardith (Hebb) Evans. He was a graduate of Aurora High School and worked for many years on the family dairy farm in Eglon. He retired after 17 years as a service technician from Wittenbach Business Systems in Baltimore. Delmus was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and faithfully served as a Congregation Elder for over 35 years. He was also a volunteer minister who helped many people to grasp an understanding of Bible teachings. In addition to his deep faith, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Alice A. "Ali" (Nicely) Evans; four children, Sonya Kupchik and husband Joel of Ohio, Alexis Torrisi, Thomas Long and wife Melissa, and Erin DiBacco and husband Shannon, all of Oakland; eleven grandchildren, Jakob, Arianna, Jewel, Pierce, Lexi, Heather, Jeffrey, Bethany, Christopher, Nickolas and Amanda; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Verla Kay George of Bellington, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey W. Evans, in 2000. The family will receive friends at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, December 2nd from 4 to 7 PM. A memorial service will be held in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 325 Weber Rd., Oakland on Saturday, December 3rd at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, Delmus requested that memorials be made to the Kimmel Cancer Center, PO Box 17029, Baltimore, MD 21297-1029.
