David Friend

David Clinton Friend, 71, of Oakland died on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Born on May 8, 1943 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Hansen Friend and Anna (Beckman) Kale. He was a mechanic by trade. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was also known for his love of dogs, especially Bojo, his canine companion of 21 years. He is survived by four children, John Friend and wife Susan of Oakland, Jody Friend of Oakland, Jeff Friend of Accident and Sarah Durst and husband Jim of Ormond Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Timothy Durst, Carly Friend and Eli Friend; a brother, Joe Friend of Oakland; and dear friends, Robert and Judy Beckman of Terra Alta, WV and Kenny Sanders of Oakland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Jack and a sister, Jenny. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, September 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 10th at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Rush officiating. Interment will follow in the Bray Cemetery, Oakland. Memorial donations may be made to the Garrett County Historical Museum, 107 S 2nd St., Oakland, MD 21550.
