It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Lee Sanders, a beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished son. Dan, 40, left this world on September 5, 2023, leaving behind treasured memories.
Born in Parsons, WV, on November 25, 1982, Dan was the son of Irene Sanders Poling and the late Colin Sanders. Growing up, he was known for his mischievous nature and being an annoying little brother. His laughter could brighten any room, and the "Sanders Charm" was undeniable.
Dan dedicated eight years of his life to serving in the United States Army. He proudly served his country in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, earning the rank of Specialist. Following his military service, Dan pursued a career as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, where he displayed his skills and craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Dan found solace in the quiet beauty of nature. He was an avid hunter, deer hunting and bear hunting with Schrock's being his favorite pursuits. Above all, he considered his two sons his greatest accomplishment.
Dan was a loving husband to Jennifer Sanders, his wife of 15 years. He will be deeply missed by his two precious sons, Colton Wheeler Sanders and Andrew Gerald Sanders, who were the light of his life; mother, Irene Poling and husband Robert; sisters, Mary Sanders and Sarah Sanders; a special and dear cousin, Jon Gaither. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
As we reflect on Dan's life and the joy he brought to those around him, we invite friends and loved ones to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating his life. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 4 to 8 PM at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St, Oakland, MD 21550, and on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at Redhouse St. Johns Lutheran Church, 3301 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD 21550 at which time a funeral service will be held with Bishop Matthew L. Riegel. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Mount Israel Cemetery.
Forever in our hearts, Daniel Lee Sanders will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of our loving Father.
