Dale Brown

Dale Eugene Brown, 81, of Gorman, passed away on December 27, 2023, at his home and surrounded by his family. Born on June 4, 1942, in Swanton, he was the son of the late Edwin Taylor and Violet Mae (Secrist) Brown.

Dale worked for Buffalo Coal Company; working in multiple capacities, he was a skilled timberman, sawmill operator, and heavy equipment operator on the strip jobs. He loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He had many prized trophies from his hunting trips and valued his time outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Uphold) Brown; two children, Tammy Mellott and husband Alex and Bruce Brown and wife Linda; eleven grandchildren, Scot Kelley and wife Sarah, Lauren Whealton and companion Steve, Brady Whealton, Brayden, Samantha, Aaron and Dale Mellott, Scottie Brown, Chelsea Abe and husband Makota, Cassandra Cogley and companion Zakk, and Joshua Moon and wife Nicole; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Butler; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Brown; a brother, Larry Neil Brown; and a brother in law, Melvin Butler.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St, Oakland. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
