Daisy Matthews

Daisy Ellen Matthews, 89, of Oakland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Peace Healthcare Dennett Road. Born on April 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Walter Cromwell and Elsie (Deal) Reall.

Daisy had worked at the local Five and Ten store and also for Matthews Coffee Shop in downtown Oakland. Daisy also spent many years hand-crafting artificial flower arrangements which were sold at Tablelands Milk Producers and worked for numerous years at Matthews Farm. She was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren. Daisy enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crocheting and baking. Most of all, she loved caring for and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her adopted grandchildren, Heidi Hauser Qualls and husband John, and Bryan Thomas Hauser and wife Stacy, all of Oakland; Harold Thomas "Tom" Hauser, who was like a brother, and his wife Alice, of Oakland; great grandchildren, Morgan Qualls, Mason Qualls, Faith Hauser, and Braelynn Hauser; her siblings, Susan Gatto of Ohio, Carl Reall of Terra Alta, WV, and Charles Reall of Gormania, WV; sisters in law, Pat Reall and Pam Deal; an uncle, Parley Deal, and several aunts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Eugene "Gene" Matthews; two dear babies who died at birth; four brothers, Henry, George and Paul Reall, and Donnie Deal; and sisters in law, Bonnie Reall, Sue Reall, and Catherine Reall.

Friends will be received at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, 6557 Sang Run Rd., McHenry, MD 21541, on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 12 to 2 PM. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM with Pastor Scott Rush and Reverend Jonathan Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
