Claude Randall "Randy" McCartney, 69, of Oakland died on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at his home. Born on December 27, 1946 in Grafton, WV, he was the son of the late Randall L. "Mac" and Eva Clara (Luzadder) McCartney. He was a graduate of Southern High School and was the owner of Randy's Body Shop since 1968. Randy was a member of the Oakland Elks Lodge #2481, American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and the Legion Riders, also the Christian Motorcyclists Association, Beechwood Rod and Gun Club, Mountaintop Hunting Club and Sponsor of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting trips, especially with his boys, and being at the cabin. He greatly enjoyed motorcycles and vintage cars. He loved racing and was not only a fan but also an owner who sponsored the car driven by Red Frederick at Elkins Raceway. Randy was a member of the Crellin Assembly of God where he served as Trustee. He loved life and had never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his humor and generosity, which was abundant. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Debra (Boone) McCartney, who had been the love of his life for the past 20 years; his children, Randi "Susie" Brantner and husband Michael of Oakland, John McCartney and wife Karla of Columbus, OH and Billy McCartney and wife Michelle of Hagerstown; stepchildren, Kris Upole of Oakland, Erica LaRue and husband Tony of Morgantown, WV and Ryan Upole and wife Kari of Oakland; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, John "Skip" McCartney and wife Susan of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy (DeWitt) McCartney and a son, Ernest "Petey" McCartney. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, December 26th from 3 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Crellin Assembly of God, 2200 Hutton Road, Oakland on Tuesday, December 27th at 11 AM. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
