Clarence Whitacre

Clarence Everett Whitacre, 80, of Oakland died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on June 22, 1937, in Kitzmiller, he was the son of the late George W. and Millie (Rowe) Whitacre. He, along with his brother, built and operated Whitacre Auto Sales and was also a school bus driver in Garrett County. Mr. Whitacre attended the Loch Lynn Church of God and was a member of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to being a hard worker, he was an animal lover and rescuer who will be remembered for having a big heart. He never met a stranger. In addition to spending time with his family, he loved to dance and was an automotive enthusiast who enjoyed NASCAR, stock car racing and car auctions. He is survived by three children, Jimmy Whitacre and wife Diane of Ranson, WV, Lisa Devier and husband Brett of Oakland, and Diana Roderick and husband Richard of Keyser, WV; grandchildren, Lindsay Shank and husband Matt, Matt Kisner and wife Kendra, and Kayla Kisner and boyfriend Bradley McKenzie; great grandchildren, Isabella and Savannah Shank; two sisters, Ethyl Wotring and Dorothy Sines; a brother, Herbert Whitacre; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Buster and Missy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi (Nelson) Whitacre; a daughter, Teresa Whitacre; a son, David Whitacre; and siblings, Thurman and June. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, January 12th from 12 to 2 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Ivan Ackerman officiating. The family would like to thank the GRMC ICU staff, Dr. Buczynski, Dr. Fridkin, and nurses, Brenda, Chris and Wendy for the loving care provided to Mr. Whitacre.
