Clarence W. "Hunk" Cogley, 85, of Oakland, died on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Garrett County Regional Medical Center. Born on March 6, 1931 in Garrett County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Ray E. and Mamie F. (Nine) Cogley. Clarence proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post #71 for over 60 years. He attended St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Clarence was owner and operator of a local fixture known as Cogley's Barbershop in downtown Oakland where he cut hair for over fifty years. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and when the weather did not cooperate, he enjoyed watching football, especially the Baltimore Ravens, or baseball on television. Clarence is survived by his bride of 31 years, Carolyn L. Cogley; his three sons, Ronnie Cogley and wife Cindy of Oakland, William Cogley and wife Cindy of Crellin and Frankie Cogley of Oakland; a stepson, Jimmy Hook and wife Karen of Bittinger; a stepdaughter, Tonya (Hook) Priapi of Oakland; grandchildren, Tonya Friend and husband Chris, Jennifer Cogley, R.J. Cogley and friend Nickie, all of Oakland, Joey Lewis, Tresha Knox and husband J.J., Shawn Lewis, all of Crellin, T.L. McQuillan and wife Rebecca of Weirton, WV, Tasha Adeboje and husband Adebiyi of Morgantown, Christy Warnick and husband Randy of Keyser's Ridge, and Anthony Cogley; five step grandchildren, Anthony and Nathaniel Hook of Annapolis, Samantha Chapman and husband Eric of Oakland, Dylan Pickrel of Hazleton, Briana Priapi of Oakland; four great-grandchildren, Tray and Alyssa Friend, Kaylee Cogley and Kaylee Stevens; six siblings, Ellis Cogley and wife Annie, Joe Cogley and wife Pat, all of Oakland, Simon Cogley and wife Lois of Florida, Francis Coddington of Stevens City, VA, Delorse Reiner and husband Jack of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Linda Lipscomb of Terra Alta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Marian Cummings and Richard Cogley; three brothers, John, James and Frank Cogley and a sister, Virginia Poling. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd Street, Oakland on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chad Reese officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veteran's Cemetery at a later date.
