Clarence Bowman

Clarence Edward “Ted” Bowman, 81, of Oakland passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at his home. Born on October 22, 1936, in Freeport, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence A. and Virginia A. (O’Haver) Bowman. He was a graduate of Oakland High School and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He had attended the Fairview Church of the Brethren. Ted had worked as an electrician for Mettiki Coal and also as a TV/CB repairman for Kelly’s Appliance and Furniture Store. To many, he was known by his CB handle/nickname of “RCA.” Ted had also played the accordion for the Gospel Hillbilly’s. He loved music and was able to play every instrument by ear, never reading a piece of music. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda (Wilt) Bowman; his children, Penny Knotts and husband Keith of Parsons, WV, Ruth Bowman of Greenbelt, Tammy Lewis and husband Allen of Oakland, Theresa Luteri of English, IN, Katrina Thayer of Swanton, Jeff Bowman of Salisbury and Mike Bowman of Aurora, WV; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved cats. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Fraley and Ramona Shillingburg. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2ndSt., Oakland on Friday, April 20, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1101 Fairview Church Rd., Oakland on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 1 PM with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Private interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
