Clara Gauer

Clara Emma Gauer, 86, of Oakland died on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on October 20, 1927 in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Nestor N. and Mary (Kuykendall) Sukow. She was a member of the White United Methodist Church and was a member of the auxiliaries of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 in Oakland and the Deer Park VFW Post 10077. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Thomas of North Charleston, SC; a son, Kenneth Sukow of Rawlings; six grandchildren, Catherine Kowertz of Huntington Beach, CA, Steven Costa of Charleston, SC, Kandi Brown of Salisbury, PA, Elizabeth Smith of Huntington Beach, CA, Vicki Guthrie of Mt. Lake Park and Cynthia Costa of Lake Elizabeth, CA; twelve great grandchildren; and two and a half great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dwight Gauer, in 1979; four brothers; and one sister. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, February 13th from 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14th at 11 AM with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
